When we celebrate thanksgiving day?

Prior to the formal establishment of Thanksgiving, Native American harvest festivals had been celebrated for centuries, with colonial services dating back to the late 16th century. After a season of bountiful growth, the autumnal feasts celebrated crop harvesting.

In the early 1600s, settler communities in both Massachusetts and Virginia came together to thank them for their survival, their field fertility, and their faith. The most widely known early Thanksgiving is that of the Pilgrims in Plimoth, Massachusetts, who celebrated with the people of Wampanoag in 1621 for three days.

HOW DIFFERENT IN CANADA IS THANKSGIVING?
Canada's Thanksgiving Day is observed in October on the second Monday and has different origins than the holiday's American version. The first Thanksgiving meal witnessed in what is now Canada took place in 1578, when English explorer Martin Frobisher and his crew arranged a meal to thank God for giving them safe passage through the New World wilds.

Canadians get off work on Monday in most parts of the country, but it's an optional holiday in Atlantic Canada (Prince Edward Island, New Brunswick, Nova Scotia, and Newfoundland and Labrador). The holiday is not observed at all by most Quebecers.
